Business-Education Partnership
(VCCBEP)
Believing that business and education partnerships are
fundamental to the future of Vermont's economy and business
community, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce Business-Education
Partnership (VCCBEP) was created in 1990. Specifically,
the goal was to create partnerships between businesses and
educators to broaden and enhance the student's classroom
learning. There are presently over 1,600 VCCBEP members
who work to achieve this goal through job shadowing programs,
mentoring, work-based learning opportunities, internships and
apprenticeships. Some of the benefits of such programs include:
• Increasing the pool of qualified applicants who can meet
current and future workforce demands;
• Reducing the cost of employee recruitment, selection and
training;
• Strengthening the links between work and learning as well
as between labor market supply and demand;
• Enhancing a company’s reputation by helping it become
involved in the important issue of education reform. Contact: Robin Morton, VCCBEP Vice President Phone: (802) 223-0603

(VMP)
The overall goal of the Vermont Mentoring Partnership (VMP) is
to improve the lives of Vermont youth through quality mentoring
relationships. The original mission was to assess the
short-term and long-term strategies necessary to help achieve this
goal. Specifically, the Vermont Mentoring Partnership was
created to identify and fill the need for:
• a review of the statewide mentoring information available;
• increased public awareness and coordinated recruitment
of mentors;
• technical assistance to and training of mentors;
• funding and resources for mentoring programs;
• developing quality mentoring programs and a system to
maintain their integrity and safety. As a result, the Vermont
Mentoring Partnership has helped to increase public awareness
