Fannie
Mae Employer - Assisted Housing Initiative
| Description: |
Under the Fannie Mae
Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH)
Initiative, Fannie Mae provides free technical assistance to
employers interested in offering an EAH benefit to their
employees and to communities, non-profits, lenders and
business alliances interested in creating EAH initiatives. This
free assistance includes advice on which benefit best meets
employer and employee needs, a cost benefit analysis and an
Employer EAH Manual.
An EAH benefit is an employer-provided benefit that helps
employees with their housing needs while helping employers
achieve important business goals. The employer’s EAH
benefit for its employees generally helps the employees
better understand the home-buying process or helps
employees overcome affordability or cash-at-closing
obstacles. Employers can also choose to assist with rental
needs. Typical benefits include home-buyer education
classes, a second loan or a grant. The business goals met by
an EAH benefit are one or more of the following EAH “Rs”:
recruitment, retention, return, revitalization, reduced
commuting, relationships, right thing to do, and recognition.
