Burlington Electric Department (BED)
Description: The Burlington Electric Department (BED) is a municipal utility serving residential and commercial customers.

The Energy Efficiency Advantage Programs
Through Energy Advantage and Top 10, BED will custom design energy-efficiency program improvements with quick paybacks, rebates, and built-in incentives so the customer can reap the benefits of reduced monthly bills almost immediately. BED will also offer “positive cash flow” financing for the recommended improvements. Financing can come in
the form of a low-interest loan or rebate.

The Commercial Construction and Equipment Replacement Programs
These programs are designed to help customers exceed Burlington’s required guidelines for energy-efficient construction when building or renovating their facilities or replacing equipment. BED assists designers and owners in the choice of energy-efficient equipment, systems and construction techniques that will meet their specific business and energy needs. Prescriptive and custom financial incentives are
offered on qualifying projects.

10% Challenge Program
Through its work with the Alliance for Climate Action and the 10% Challenge, BED has taken a leadership role in encouraging every business and person to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions by at least 10 percent.
