Description: The IRS has application forms for federal employer ID numbers and federal taxes. Information on social security is also available. U.S. Department of Labor
Description: The U.S. Department of Labor operates a toll-free Information Service that provides live operator assistance and a universal access point to all of DOL’s programs, services and personnel. The service offers help in more than 140 languages to callers with questions about job loss, business closures, pay and leave, workplace safety and health, pension and health benefits, and workplace injuries.

Live operator assistance is available Monday-Friday, 8 am to 8 pm Eastern time.

Remember, federal wage and hour laws differ from Vermont state law, you should also contact the U.S. Department of Labor (802-951-6283 or 603-666-7716) regarding your rights and obligations under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

DOL’s Wage and Hour Division has a local office which investigates concerns relating to rights and obligations under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
