extensive business resources. It provides the latest in
high-tech computer hardware, software and publications to help
start-up and expanding businesses. It includes a comprehensive
library of business publications, which cover both general

data. Volunteer business counselors can also help with business
planning. No appointments necessary, call for hours. |

Venture Center |
| Description: |
The Center provides resources for
entrepreneurs to start or expand specialty food businesses. An
annual membership fee of $75 entitles members to services,
including: a half-day food safety and sanitation course, initial
product development assistance (recipe, packaging, regulatory,
and label approval), marketing assistance, wholesale food and
packaging purchases, and supplier and distributor information.
The center has extensive kitchen, baking, and processing
equipment and facilities that can be used for an hourly or per
piece price. |

-- Marketing Research Center |
| Description: |
MBDP is a statewide non-profit program
of the five Vermont Community Action Agencies. The program
offers low- and moderate- income entrepreneurs technical
assistance for starting, expanding, or improving their
businesses. Services include: one-on-one business counseling,
classroom training in the NxLevel Business Plan Basics
curriculum, facilitated peer support groups, workshops on
special topics, and loan application assistance. Some business
funding assistance is available directly from MBDP for
income-qualified people through Individual Development Accounts
or matched savings programs. Each MBDP office also has a
computer lab with high-speed internet connection and business
resource materials for client use. All services are free of
charge to low and moderate income Vermonters. To obtain
services, please call to set up an initial interview with a
counselor. |
