King Street Youth Center

Description: Community-based agency offering a variety of children, youth and family services.  Promotes personal and social wellness through educational, recreational and social programs.
  • Child Care program including free 1/2 day scholarship spaces for children ages 3 to 5 years.
  • After school program, Kindergarten to 5th grade.
  • Summer camp, Kindergarten to 5th grade (full or 1/2 day).
  • Teen Futures youth program.
  • Evening teen drop-in recreation program.
  • Sunday evening dinners - hot meal each Sunday.
Cost: All programs free with the exception of full day child care.
McClure Multigenerational Center
Burlington Children Space & Champlain Senior Center
Location:  241 North Winooski Avenue, Burlington  05401
Description:  The McClure Multigenerational Center houses both the Champlain Senior Center and the Burlington Children's Space in two separate wings, under one roof.  Intergenerational programs include, storytelling, shared art and cooking classes, the All Age Percussion Ensemble and the New Visions Dance Group.
Burlington Children's Space (BCS): The Burlington Children’s Space, housed in the McClure Multi-Generational Center, is a NAEYC accredited program offering early care and education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Programming is based on influences from Reggio Emilia, Italy, the interests and curiosities of the children, and the unique culture and resources of our local community. BCS is dedicated to serving all populations; tuition is based on a sliding scale and we reserve spaces for families receiving tuition subsidy from the State of Vermont.

Champlain Senior Center (CSC): Two of the guideposts for happy longevity are having good people in our lives and learning to play and create after retirement. This, along with attention to physical and emotional wellbeing through nutrition, exercise and the arts, sets the foundation for the Champlain Senior Center. The many programs for ages 60 and up include:
  • Noon-time meals served Monday through Friday.
  • Home safety talks, stress reduction talks and grief support group.
  • Nutrition education, monthly blood pressure clinics, cholesterol screening, CPR, choking prevention classes, foot care clinic.
  • Exercise programs; armchair exercise (for people who have trouble standing and wheelchair users), Yoga, walking club, wellness classes, and strength training.
  • Arts classes; painting, sculpture, drama, chorus, poetry & journal writing.

Door-to-door transportation is provided to and from the center in special, lift-equipped vans. Vans operate 5 days a week, call to make reservations.

Sara Holbrook Community Center

Description: Offers a variety of community services:
  • Preschool classes for ages 3-4.
  • After school program for 1st to 5th graders.
  • Summer camp for K through fifth grade; 3 sessions offered.
  • Teen nights for Bosnian, Tibetan and Vietnamese youth.
  • Summer English instruction, "New Arrivals," ages 4 to 18.

Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services

Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program

Description: Women Helping Battered Women is committed to ending violence against women and children.   We believe family violence reflects the greater violence against women and other minorities in our society.  Comprehensive services offered:

  • Advocacy for legal needs and working with the police.
  • Children’s Services for childcare, assistance with schools and playgroups.
  • Shelter programs for assistance with housing, food and clothing.
  • Support Groups for confidential support with other women.
  • Community Education on the effects of domestic abuse.

Description: WRCC is committed to offering short term counseling and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault, rape and childhood sexual abuse.  We are an accessible organization to people of all cultures, races, physical and mental abilities, incomes, age and sexual orientations.  Services include:
  • 24 Hr. Hotline for immediate personal support and referrals.
  • Advocacy to assist survivors with the police, hospital and the legal process.
  • Community Education program, the Paradigm Project, offers workshops & outreach to community organizations, schools, police officers, hospitals etc.
