Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA)

Description: Bus service from Cherry St. Station linking Burlington, South Burlington, Shelburne, Essex Junction and Winooski.  Ten Ride Tickets and Monthly Bus Passes available.  Rideshare match lists provided free to anyone interested in joining a carpool or vanpool.  Park & Ride service offered for downtown Burlington.
Cost:

Adult fares:

  • $1.25/one way
  • $10.00/Adult 10-ride ticket
  • $42/Adult 31-day pass

Discount fares:

  • $.60/one way
  • $5.00/10-ride ticket
  • $21.00/31-day pass

Discount Fares are available for ages 6 to 18 and seniors over 60, Medicare card holders and riders with a CCTA Disabled & Senior I.D.  Summer pass for students under 18 with valid student I.D. available during July & August.

Good News Garage
Location: 331 North Winooski Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401
Schedule: Office hours: Monday through Friday  8am to 5pm.

Description: Repairs donated vehicles and sells them for the cost of repairs to qualified applicants. GNG's mission is to provide affordable, reliable transportation options for those in need so they may access employment and job training. You may donate your car online right now or call Good News Garage, toll-free, 1-877-GIVE AUTO (1-877-448-3288). All vehicle donations are tax deductible.
Cost: The cost of purchase covers the cost of repairing the vehicle and contributes some funds to administrative cost. Some vehicles are also offered by contract through the Reach Up Program of the Department of Children and Families.
Special Services Transportation Agency (SSTA)
Location: 1504 Hegeman Avenue, Colchester, VT  05446
Schedule:  Vans are available:
  • Monday through Friday 5:45am to 10:20pm
  • Saturday 6:15am to 8:00pm
  • Sunday 8:30am to 5:00pm

Description: SSTA is a nonprofit agency providing accessible transportation for people who have specialized mobility needs.  With a fleet of 24 specially equipped vans, SSTA serves the elderly and disabled with coordinated transportation to many area services: 
  • Cathedral Square
  • Champlain Senior Center
  • Champlain Valley Agency on Aging, both meals and people
  • Champlain Vocational Services
  • Chittenden County Transportation Authority (ADA)
  • Howard Mental Health
  • Medicaid rides for wheelchair clients
  • Social Rehabilitative Services (SRS)
  • Various Nursing homes
  • Visiting Nurses Association's two Adult Day Programs
  • Vocational Rehabilitation

SSTA also provides demand responsive rides for the public under a strict contract with Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA) to meet the requirements of the American Disabilities Act (ADA).  By law, ADA eligible clients are allowed unlimited rides on our vans at the cost of $2.50 per ride.  Many ADA transports are subscription rides that are provided on a routine basis for commuting back and forth from work, school, dialysis, etc.  Call for details.

SSTA also works with Work/Family Directions from Boston to provide services to IBM employees and their elder relatives. 

Cost: $2.50 per ride for ADA eligible riders.
