The city will be receiving $891,317 in Community Development Block Grant
funding for the 2009 Program Year. That represents an increase of $11,412
over last year's allocation.
Applications are separated into the Public Service and Development categories
because federal law caps the amount of CDBG funding that can be spent on Public
Service projects at 15% of the City's total allocation. Applications are
further separated into subject categories for convenience; this separation is
somewhat subjective as some applications do not fit easily into a category
and/or span more than one category.
All applications are available for public review at the Community & Economic
Development Office.
The CDBG Advisory Board
reviewed the applications during January, February, March and April, and
has made recommendations to the Mayor and the City Council. The
recommendations have been incorporated into a draft
Action Plan (pdf). There wasa
Public Hearing before City Council on April 27 on these recommendations,
on the Action Plan
and on housing and community development needs generally in the city. The
city will continue to accept public comment through the close of business on May
12. You may comment in writing to mbozik@ci.burlington.vt.us or to CEDO,
149 Church Street, Room 32, Burlington, VT 05401, or by phone to
865-7144 (865-7142 TTY).
