LEAD SAFETY ORDINANCE

At its February 23, 2009 meeting, City Council enacted an ordinance protecting children from lead poisoning.  The ordinance was drafted by Code Enforcement, the Community & Economic Development Office and the City Attorney's Office based on national research.

As passed by City Council, one of the requirements of the Lead Safety Ordinance is to post the attached Lead Paint Disturbance poster when performing any activities on an exterior that disturbs more than one square foot of painted surfaces.  Copies of the poster are available at the Department of Public Works, Code Enforcement, the Burlington Lead Program or you can download one here (pdf).
