The CJC works to increase accountability and support for people
returning from prison to Burlington. Their ability to support
themselves and live productive, crime free lives is important to the
safety and health of our community.
The Offender Reentry Advisory Committee, comprised of Community
Volunteers, a Victim Advocate and a Police Officer, meet with
Offenders to review their plans for successful reentry and to
discuss their responsibly to the community. Collaborative case
planning, job and housing search help, life skills classes,
counseling and other services are provided. Wrap-around safety
planning and support is offered to the Victim(s) and Families of
returning prisoners as well.
|
Additionally, the Project provides a forum to address community concerns
regarding the activities of Offenders in our neighborhoods. It is a
venue for residents to express concerns, ask questions and receive
information. Public meetings are held and statistics regarding placement
and activities of people under the supervision of the Department of
Corrections (DOC) reviewed regularly. |

The City works closely with the local DOC Office to improve
supervision of Offenders and respond to issues raised by residents
of Burlington.
