The Leadership Development & Capacity Building
component of CCAN provides comprehensive organizational
development and training for neighborhoods, non-profits, and
City departments. CCAN also receives requests to consult
with groups nationally and internationally. Services are
targeted to organizations and individuals that share in
CCAN’s mission to cultivate social capital and engage
Burlington residents in solving their own problems.
Capacity Building Programs & ServicesNational Service Volunteers: CCAN provides 20 AmeriCorps*VISTA members recruited and placed (by CCAN) with 15 area agencies. These agencies become partners in CCAN's anti-poverty initiative and work collaboratively to address issues on the following four areas:
Leadership Training Series: This Program provides leadership training to support neighborhood leaders, non-profit managers and city administrators. Strategic Planning & Facilitation Services: CCAN provides assistance to non-profits and city departments working on community problem solving particularly issues of race, class and engaging the typically underserved. Working on the principal that alone we can not solve such significant societal issues, a collaborative principal governs problem solving processes. CCAN is frequently asked to support the Mayor's office, Department of Public Works and our non-profit partners in program design, strategic planning and community engagement. CCAN staff are trained facilitators as well as maintaining a facilitator database of individuals who have been trained and available to serve as facilitators at community meetings, retreats and events. For more information contact Beth Truzansky at 865-7178. Organizational Development for Refugee Organizations: Burlington as a refugee resettlement area has welcomed over 3,000 refugees over the past two decades. CCAN provides support to refugee groups starting organizations. Foundation for Civic Engagement: This funding tool supports civic engagement and development of new participatory governance venues. The Foundation provides a venue for CCAN programs and partners to apply for funding that requires non-profit status. |
