AmeriCorps*VISTA
Individuals become professional volunteers for a year working in Burlington’s non-profits, schools and city departments. Two teams of VISTAs work on community development and literacy programs. Beth Truzansky, 865-7178

AmeriCorps*State
CEDO We All Belong AmeriCorps*State is your chance to create a more welcoming community. AmeriCorps members serve full or part-time to address critical needs in the community. Members work in non-profits and institutions. Beth Truzansky, 865-7178

Flower garden   Building Neighborhoods
Helps residents make their neighborhoods safer by starting neighborhood associations and planning neighborhood improvement projects. Jenny Davis at 865-7172.

Weekly email update of community events, workshops, trainings, and notifications. Jenny Davis, 865·7172

Community Events
Each year CCAN organizes and hosts community-wide events that engage Burlington residents and businesses in the recognition of our diversity, our successes, and opportunities to make our City a better place to live.

Community Support for Resolving Disputes
A conflict resolution program based in the Burlington Police Department to help residents resolve or manage their conflicts. Brooke Hadwen, 540-2393

Volunteers giving back to the community Clean-Ups & Service Days
Working with neighbors, students, and businesses to clean up and give back to the community. Jenny Davis, 865·7172

Community Education & Training
CCAN provides support for individuals and organizations to learn how to engage others in making positive social change. Beth Truzansky, 865-7178

Community Justice Center
Uses restorative justice principals to address harm done to victims and the community through restorative justice panels. 865·7155

Dolma with wheelbarrow Graffiti Removal
Assists victims of property crime by removing graffiti, mending fences, replanting gardens, and fixing windows. Nicole Beaudoin, 865-7548

Foundation for Civic Engagement
A non-profit designed to to serve as a funding umbrella for Burlington's civic engagement activities.

Neighborhood Grants Program
Funding for small neighborhood improvement projects such as clean-up days or park improvements. Jenny Davis, 865·7172

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPA)
Each of Burlington’s seven Wards have NPAs that meet monthly to discuss issues, share information, and carry out activities designed to improve neighborhood life. Jenny Davis, 865·7172 or agendas and meeting dates on the web.

Operation Snow Shovel
If you are elderly or physically unable to shovel your walk, we will connect you with a volunteer who can help. Jenny Davis, 865·7172

Study Circles on Racism & Other Community Dialogue Initiatives
Study Circles are facilitated conversations in groups of 8-10 participants. The 2004 round of study circles had nearly 300 participants. These community conversations evolved into action groups. Yiota Ahladas, 865·7168

Women with baby Tax Help
The CASH Coalition assists low- and moderate-income Chittenden County residents to achieve their financial goals through free tax assistance and asset-building opportunities. Generally speaking, CASH services are available to Chittenden County households with income of $40,000 or less, and are FREE. Welcoming Communities
CCAN helps to create a community where we all belong. Working with other agencies and City Departments, we support new arrivals, create a safe community for all and one which embraces our diversity and global connection.
