Building Burlington's Community - A Message from Mayor Kiss

Dear Burlington Resident,

Burlington’s strength as a community has a lot to do with its diversity of views on the city and its neighborhoods. People from all walks of life and perspectives are actively involved in the process of improving and governing the Burlington community. Burlington residents participate in Neighborhood Planning Assembly meetings, other block associations, the Burlington Legacy Project, as well as a wide variety of taskforces, commissions, and advisory boards.

This booklet shares the stories of some of the neighborhood initiatives that are building Burlington today. It provides residents with examples and opportunities for involvement in solving problems and enhancing the livability of city neighborhoods. We all hope that this booklet will inform and inspire others as it recognizes those who’ve already become involved in strengthening our community.

We’ve made real progress in improving our neighborhoods. Residents, city departments, nonprofit organizations, and businesses have worked cooperatively to make this happen. And there’s still more to do. By working together and building on the successes described here, the people and City of Burlington can only become a better place to live and work in the future.

With best regards,

Bob Kiss Mayor
