Community Action Priorities for Celebrations, Arts & Culture
Burlington Racism Study Circle Program

May 2003


A.  Develop a Museum of Diversity (living museum) / Plan a March Against Racism to end with storytelling Hunt Middle- Wednesday 6-8 PM

B.  "Acting Against racism" - using drama improvisation to experience and initiate dialogue First Congregational Church 6-8 PM Monday

C.  'Acting Against Racism,' Using Improvisational Drama to Raise Awareness About Racism; including a guided facilitated discussion process; youth would be a key group. Set up Permanent Trail in downtown Burlington that depicts the history of race relations, marks achievements in Vermont. End the year -long Educational Racism Awareness Campaign with a Diversity and Racism Awareness Day and Racism Awareness Day and Festival Downtown. Scrumptious Tuesday 7:30 - 9:30 AM

D.  More visible, ethnically diverse, community events e.g., celebration of the Vietnamese New Year, a walking tour of the underground railroad in Vermont, etc. Community Health Center Thursday 6-8 PM

E.  Have monthly potluck dinners with focus on racism or multi-cultural topics Fletcher Free Library Saturdays 9:30-11:30 AM
